How to convert an MSG file to PDF

- Download each PDF individually, or grab all of them as one .zip.
What the PDF keeps
| Kept | Not yet supported |
|---|---|
| Subject, From, To, Cc, Date (optional) | Messages whose body is stored only as Rich Text (RTF) — see what winmail.dat is for why that happens |
| Plain-text bodies, and HTML bodies where Outlook stored one | Exact pixel-for-pixel layout of very complex HTML emails |
| Attachment file names and sizes (listed, not embedded) | The original attachment files themselves inside the PDF |
Tested with
.msg files saved from Microsoft Outlook (desktop), covering plain-text bodies, HTML bodies and regular attachments.
Check it yourself
Open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and convert a file — you won't see it uploaded anywhere. Or turn off Wi-Fi first; this tool keeps working. Seethe full privacy page for what is and isn't collected.
Known limitations
- Some Outlook messages store their formatted body as compressed Rich Text (RTF) rather than HTML. Only the plain-text body can be extracted from those right now — the PDF will note this when it happens.
- Very large attachments can be slow, since everything runs on your device.
- Embedded (nested) .msg attachments aren't opened automatically yet.
FAQ
Why does my PDF only show plain text, not formatting?
That message's body was stored as Rich Text (RTF) rather than HTML — a common Outlook quirk. Seewhat winmail.dat is for the related fix.
Can I convert more than one file at a time?
Yes — drop as many .msg files as you like; each gets its own PDF, and you can download them all as one .zip.
Is there a free MSG to PDF converter that doesn't need Outlook installed?
Yes — this one. It reads the .msg file's own format directly in your browser, so you don't need Outlook, an account or an upload to convert .msg to PDF.
